Firlands Childrens Home
Salvation Army - Linden
Orphanage
ABOUT:
In 1923 eighteen boys were moved from the social farm in Driehoek to become the first residents of the Linden Boys’ Home. As the buildings were etstablished 120 boys were accomodated in two dormitory style buildings. In the 1980’s the dormitories were adapted to form five separate cottages accomodating 12 boys in each cottage. In the early 1990’s the home was opened to all race groups and girls were admitted in order to keep siblings together.
Today we provide care and development opportunities for 60 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Each
cottage is run by a child care worker with the support of qualified management and therapeutic staff.Co-ordinating the lives of 60 children is a complex task in which support from our network of volunteers and hosts in invaluable.
